Before joining Xmo Strata:
I was an industrial sprayer, travelling all over the world for different contracts.
My work at Xmo Strata includes:
Painting, spraying and maintaining fuel dispensers on petrol stations nationwide.
Training needed to complete my work:
For my work with Xmo Strata it was necessary for me to have UKPIA, PASMA, IPAF, CSCS, Absestos Awareness and Fire & First Aid training.
My work involves:
Prepping pumps and steelwork/cladding, then painting or spraying. Working around traffic, the public and site staff can be quite a challenge while setting-up a site; a large part of my job is ensuring that all safety procedures are strictly followed.
Problems that can arise on a site painting/pump spraying job:
Extreme weather conditions i.e. extremes of temperature, wind or moisture in the air can affect the process of paint spraying quite significantly. It is important to have procedures in place to deal with this if it arises.
The best thing about my job:
Job security. I enjoy what I do, and it's nice to have an Area Supervisor above me who takes control and organises the schedule.
The worst thing about my job:
Having to overcome the elements to present a good job.
What motivates me in my work:
Feeling comfortable in what I do.
