Before joining Xmo Strata:
Previous careers include brick-laying and tiling. I also completed an apprenticeship with Wimpey Construction.
My work at Xmo Strata includes:
Assisting in sign installation, vinyl application, operating access equipment and ground preparation.
Training needed to complete my work:
UKPIA, CSCS, IPAF, Fire & Fist Aid and Manual Handling. All of these qualifications have been achieved during my employment with Xmo Strata.
Describe a typical day at work:
I get up bright and early to pick up my colleague, we then drive to site. Before we start work for the day, we decide on an action-plan and sign-in with the site manager to make sure they know we are on-site and what we will be doing. We then fill-in all the required safety paperwork and begin the set-up. Once the work is finished, we clean-up the work space and get completion paperwork signed-off before heading back home (or to a hotel if we are working away).
The best thing about my job:
There is always plenty of work.
What motivates me in my job:
Knowing that I can provide for my family.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would go to Hawaii, for the warm weather, the beaches and the amazing views.
