Frequently asked questions
Once your application has been processed, we aim to contact you within 10 days.
Before we can conduct interviews and go through the vetting procedure, we will require a completed application form. Following receipt, we usually conduct an initial interview and then a more in-depth one, with the formal offer of employment following this. This will usually take about a month, but in some cases can be expedited if the need to fulfill a position is urgent.
Promoting from within is always fulfilling for us because it means that we have employed, trained and are happy with an employee. Sometimes, however, this isn’t possible because we need to ensure that our teams are strategically located to deal with emergency call-outs as required. Having two teams in the same vicinity can make this more difficult.
There are several ways to apply for a position with Xmo Strata. You can either post your CV to our head office with a covering letter or email it to us at recruitment@xmostrata.com. See ‘How to apply’ for further details.
All employees’ wages are paid directly into their bank account to arrive by the last day of each month.
All field based employees are issued with trousers, T-shirts, jumpers, high viz vests and coats, safety boots, safety helmets, gloves, safety glasses, harnesses and lanyards.
Most of our work is undertaken during the day from Monday to Friday, however, as market leader, we are relied upon to offer emergency cover 24 hours per day, 365 days per year so there are times when weekend or out of hours work is essential and cannot be avoided.
Any days off work due to illness will be unpaid, unless otherwise agreed with management.

If you do not hold the required qualifications upon an offer of employment (see ‘Training and skills’) Xmo Strata will invest in your future by sending you on external training courses to ensure that you are fully qualified to work on-site. All training is fully covered by the company, is completed on full pay and will not affect holiday entitlement.

Yes. You will be working on various sites anywhere in the UK, sometimes visiting several per day. We will always try to keep you as close to your base as possible, however there may be some travel involved and if we are re-branding a site, you may need to stay away (at the company’s cost) for up to one week.
We are a nationwide company, therefore, you may be required to travel and stay over on a regular basis. All expenses will be covered by the company, including hotels. Where an overnight stay is necessary, a ‘tax free’ food allowance has been agreed with the Inland Revenue and is payable without the need for receipts.
Yes. There is always plenty of overtime available. Just speak to your supervisor who will then discuss this with management.
For safety reasons, we always try to ensure that engineers work in pairs. In the unlikely event that you are asked to work alone, we do have a ‘lone worker’ policy to minimise risks to you, but it may be necessary to restrict the duties that you are able to carry out.
The minimum qualifications that we require before sending an employee on-site are:-
- Safety passport (UK PIA)
- PASMA
- IPAF MEWP training
- IPAF Harness training
- CSCS
- First Aid and Fire Fighting Training
For details of these qualifications please see ‘Qualifications and what they mean’
