Another Safe Win For Xmo Strata

Steve Martin, Managing Director of sign installation and maintenance firm Xmo Strata, has been named 'Achiever of the Year' at this year's SHP IOSH awards*.
The trophy was presented by Comedian and TV star, Hugh Dennis, at the black-tie event in London's Park Lane Hilton hotel as the health and safety profession marked the third year of the prestigious awards.
The judges praised Mr Martin for his commitment to occupational safety and health and commented that he showed, ‘a great example of health and safety being led from the front, which will inevitably impact on the positive culture throughout the whole organisation’.
Amongst other initiatives complimented by the judging panel were the Hearts and Minds behavioural change workshops - a series of courses developed in-house for employees and approved sub-contractors in an effort to transform the safety culture of the organisation. Courses cover the effects of accidents, how safety messages are received and interpreted, accident liability and the importance of near-miss reporting.
Mr Martin said: “Whilst as the head of the company, I have the kudos of receiving the award, what we have achieved is a direct result of everyone employed by the company and the continued support and encouragement of many of our customers, both past and present.
“Without commitment from everyone, we can't improve near-miss reporting, address hazards at source, mitigate them by developing safer systems of work, or stop people from suffering genuine injuries at work. This award is a testament to every employee and contractor who has carried out work in the planning or implementation of one of our sites, whatever their role.”
Xmo Strata, which operates nationwide, counts retailers, retail parks, financial services companies, and leading oil companies and forecourt chains amongst its customers.
