The Xmo Family Values: The Secret Behind Loyal Recruits

3 June 2009

Working with family members is proving popular at sign installation and maintenance firm Xmo Strata.

The company has seen a rise in the number of employees recommending family members as potential new recruits, and there's a reason: the firm has a strong reputation for health and safety, which means that employees are more likely to recommend that relatives apply for jobs there.

Managing Director Steve Martin said: “Good safety practice is clearly crucial in attracting new and loyal employees.

“A key concern in our industry is encouraging employees to look out for one another and also to report safety hazards before accidents occur," he added. "Employing relatives brings with it a protective instinct which is invaluable in this line of work.”

Xmo Strata currently employs three father and son teams including Andy and Todd Wyer, Paul and Tom Slater and John and Steve Mitchell.

Sprayer, Mick Dennis recommended his son-in-law Antony Woods as a painter and valeter, who in turn recruited his brother Jamie to work as his mate.

Steve Knights, an Xmo Strata electrician, also introduced brother-in-law Simon Barrow who now works alongside him.
