Training and skills in the sign industry
The complexities and hazards of work undertaken in the sign industry, call for specialist skills and up-to-date knowledge. The credentials held by both a company and its employees reveal how seriously it takes the safety and satisfaction of its customers.
All companies will claim to carry out in-house training, and this is probably true. However, there is no universally accepted certificate to prove this. The only way a firm can guarantee an employee's qualifications is by using approved external training courses, and by having the relevant documentation to prove it.
Some companies see training as an unnecessary expenditure and use the excuse that the cost of training would increase the cost to the customer. However, regular training will increase the skills base of employees and ensure that a job is done correctly, the first time round; saving the customer the expense of costly return visits.
TRAINING VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE ONE
Safer setting up: traffic management and site safety
A new training video, previewed at our Safety Day in December, is now available to be viewed here.
This initial video will form part of a new series of training aids produced by Xmo Strata. It has been designed to highlight the risks found on our sites across all areas of the business, and identifies how they can be overcome by a more proactive attitude towards site safety.
Episode one focuses on site set-up, particularly addressing the issues encountered on and around a busy petrol forecourt.
Safety is not a competitive issue and we are happy to share this footage with the wider industry in the hope that it can prevent accidents and promote safer working environments.
As always, we welcome your feedback, so please feel free to drop us a line and let us know what you think.
