Safety - It's In Your Hands
2nd September 2010
Please see link below to a self explanatory bulletin from ExxonMobil Environmental Services.
Xmo Strata has implemented a number of initiatives to minimise the risk of blade cuts, having identified in 2008 that they equated to 66% of incidents resulting in harm.
In December 2008, Marigold Industrial was invited to our safety awareness day and engaged our site teams in their glove selection.
In 2009, we generated a glove checklist and subsequently reviewed all of our JSA/JHA/Safety Method Statements to include a minimum glove rating for each task.
In January 2010, we banned the use of fixed blade knives on all Xmo Strata sites.
I am delighted to confirm that we have now completed 100,000 hours of work since our last blade cut and would like to thank all of our site operatives for supporting these initiatives and making them work.
As you are all aware, Xmo Strata rules requires the wearing of gloves at times whilst on site, and all our JSAs identify the minimum rating of the gloves to be worn for each task. If you have concerns, think you can suggest improvements or disagree with any rating on the JSAs, please let us know.
