Health & safety bulletin
Forecourts - Take Care
11th February 2010
Please see link below to a self explanatory safety alert from Coteba.
The bulletin describes a serious injury to a worker who was just walking across a live forecourt. This is an activity we carry out every day and we can become overconfident or “asleep at the wheel” whilst working.
The dangers of vehicles entering the forecourt at high speed is generally accepted, but the dangers of vehicles slowly manoeuvring on the forecourt can sometimes be overlooked.
This is the second incident that has been reported recently where a vehicle reversing on the forecourt has hit a worker, and luckily in both cases the worker survived. In one case the worker sustained a dislocation and multiple fractures of an ankle and one received stitches and injuries to his hands, knees and shoulders; the next person may not be so lucky - make sure it is not you!
