Pre-Use PPE Checks

21st May 2009

Please see below self explanatory Safety Alert that shows why it is so important to check all PPE and lifting equipment before using it. Although we do not use this exact anchorage connector, similar crimped connectors are very common, and it would be easy for a similar incident to happen where a new component is just assumed to be in good condition.

This 6' anchorage connector for fall protection was found by an employee during his pre-use PPE inspection.

The eye in the wire rope, formed with the connectors which are crimped, pulled loose during the inspection. This renders it completely ineffective!

Two have since been found to be defective from the same factory.
