The Xmo Strata story
Xmo Strata was built on an aspiration to create a sign installation and sign maintenance company centred on the professionalism that seemed so lacking in the industry.
The aim was to:
- Build a team of the most highly qualified sign engineers in the UK
- Adhere uncompromisingly to health and safety regulations and best practice
- Provide a truly nationwide specialist signage service
- Ensure a safe working environment for all
- Offer a trusted, market leading service
- Deliver value to customers at all times
From the outset, the company set a minimum level of qualifications for each crew member to attain before commencing work. With strict adherence to health and safety policies, and teams of highly skilled signage engineers, Xmo Strata secured a significant signage contract with global oil giant, BP, after less than a year in business.
The company was contracted to implement a branding change on several hundred BP forecourts. 120 of these had to be completed within a month, and ‘revealed’ within a three-day period, to coincide with BP's multi million pound marketing launch of its Ultimate brand fuel.
In 2004, the company bought a specialist electrical contracting company which was accredited to conduct electrical installation work by the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting ( NICEIC).
In 2005, Xmo Strata was accredited by Det Norske Veritas to the International Contractors' Safety Rating System and following the integration of the electrical division into the mainstream business, attained NICEIC accreditation for working in hazardous areas on petrol forecourts (2006).
In 2009, Managing Director Steve Martin was recognised by the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) for his (and the company's) contribution to health and safety and was presented with the prestigious IOSH Achiever of the Year Award.
In 2010, the company achieved accreditation to the ISO 9001 Quality Standard, the ISO 14001 Environmental Standard and the OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Standard.
Xmo Strata continues to secure further significant contracts, working on large national roll-outs nationwide, and is now one of the leading sign installation and sign maintenance firms in the UK.
2012 looks set to be the busiest year in the company's 10 year history.
